My New Mantra – DOWOYCD
by Hans Grim on Feb.14, 2010, under Journal
I just returned from a music education conference in San Antonio with a new resolution that I thought I would share. I am very much of the school of thought that if you want something done right-you’re got to do it yourself.
Time and time again I have delegated things to others and sat back and watched a sub-par product emerge. I have come to the conclusion that I am superior to others in many ways. And, yes, I realize how conceited that sounds. But the truth is-that’s how I felt.
Well, a clinician named John Whitwell at TMEA told us all to ‘get over ourselves’. And he was right!
He made us all write down a replacement to our old ‘do it yourself’ attitude. And I share it with you now. He said, “Do only what only you can do.”
And so it is my goal to start enabling others in all aspects of my life. Please wish me luck!
